More than 150 African news organizations, journalists and thought leaders will now be able to bring to light through sound and motion the realities of the African continent
NEW YORK--April 22, 2013

AllAfrica Global Media has launched a new “all screens” initiative with Critical Media’s Syndicaster platform to publish video news segments for a worldwide audience that provides seamless viewing on mobile devices and tablets in addition to the web.

Mobile video is particularly prominent in the Middle East and African regions, where 72 percent of online consumers report watching video on mobile phones at least once a month, and 37 percent say they do so at least once a day, according to Nielsen’s 2012 Multi-Screen Media Usage report.

“Video has long been a mainstay among the 2,000 items added to AllAfrica each day,” said Ion Puspurica, executive vice president and general manager of the Media Services Group for Critical Media. “Syndicaster will enable uploading, editing and publishing of news segments while ensuring the video can be viewed on all screens across multiple platforms and operating systems. We are honored to play a small role in helping AllAfrica enhance its distribution of news and information from this amazing eclectic continent that has so much to offer.”

AllAfrica operates from Cape Town, South Africa; Dakar, Senegal; Lagos, Nigeria; Monrovia, Liberia; Nairobi, Kenya; and Washington D.C. The news service delivers content in English and French from more than 150 African news organizations and its own reporters to an African and global public.

“We’re committed to making content from AllAfrica easy to consume, regardless of whether the viewer is in a broadband-enabled conference center in Manhattan or a remote village in central Africa. Syndicaster helps us fulfill that mission,” said Reed Kramer, co-founder and chief executive of AllAfrica Global Media.

Posted by | News Releases | No Comments

TAMPA, Fla.–April 15, 2013–TBO.com, recognized by journalism scholars more than a decade ago as a pioneer in the convergence between print and broadcast, has chosen Critical Media’s Syndicaster™ platform to power a renewed emphasis on from-the-field video news reporting by The Tampa Tribune and its affiliates.

Among the sections of TBO.com and its mobile sites to feature additional video are the site’s 14 popular community pages, where local news video from Hernando Today, Highlands Today, Suncoast News and Centro Tampa and other affiliates is being presented prominently. Dozens of new videos are added daily, rivaling the digital sites of local TV affiliates.

“Historically, TBO.com has been one of the highest trafficked sites in the Tampa region and is considered the poster child for the convergence of video and print reporting,” said Ion Puspurica, executive vice president and general manager of the Media Services Group for Critical Media. “We’re proud Syndicaster is playing a significant role in ramping up TBO.com’s video production capabilities and delivery to web, tablets, and mobile.”

The agreement between Tampa Media Group, which owns TBO.com, and Critical Media empowers newsroom editors and field reporters to upload, edit, title, tag, publish, syndicate and monetize video news content.

“We’ve invested heavily in video storytelling for our online audience,” said Jim Riley, director of operations at TBO.com. “Syndicaster plays an important part in our workflow so we can quickly publish the video assets from our team of reporters, editors and producers.”

Entravision Continues To Bolster Online Video Content Through Multiyear Agreement With Critical Media’s Syndicaster™ Unit

Agreement Renews Partnership For 56 TV Stations & Expanded To Include 49 Radio Stations

LAS VEGAS, April 8, 2013 — Critical Media’s Syndicaster™ platform will power an expansion of video content on the digital websites operated by Entravision Communications Corporation’s television stations, radio stations and dozens of other interactive properties, the companies announced today at NAB Show.

A user of Syndicaster since 2010, Entravision has a focused strategy to extend its core television, radio and interactive franchises to digital audiences and to be the premier online local news source for the Latino community. Entravision renewed a multiyear agreement with Syndicaster for 56 television stations and 49 radio stations owned and operated by the company.

“Entravision places significant value on delivering to its online audiences high-quality and timely video news content,” said Ion Puspurica, EVP and GM of the Media Services Group for Critical Media. “We are pleased that Syndicaster has made it possible for Entravision’s radio stations to enhance the video offering of their digital properties.”

“Our digital properties are a strategic part of our diversified media platform and we are excited to expand our partnership with Critical Media to enhance our offering,” said Jeffery A. Liberman, Chief Operating Officer of Entravision. “We know our radio listeners enjoy seeing the voices behind the microphones and using Syndicaster makes it incredibly easy for all our radio websites and digital properties to benefit from a steady stream of fresh video content.”

Entravision’s 56 TV stations are among the more than 30% of local news television stations who are using Syndicaster™. The system allows for the capture and creation of real-time, high definition video clips, enabling delivery to online, mobile and tablet-viewing audiences within 60 seconds of airtime and placing content into revenue-generating syndication online. Entravision’s TV news digital production has grown ten-fold in the last three years and has produced more than 100,000 unique online local news videos in partnership with Syndicaster during that time.

The team managing Entravision’s radio properties are now using Syndicaster™ to curate, edit, title, tag and publish relevant video news segments from sister television properties. In addition, on-air personalities from Entravision radio stations are increasingly capturing in-studio events and interviews previously available only in audio.

“Radio has some of the best local news and interviews of any media, but much of this content has been vanishing into thin air. We’re changing that,” continued Puspurica. “Using Syndicaster, radio stations can now create and
monetize video content online. This provides radio stations the same opportunities enjoyed by both TV broadcasters and video-producing newspapers.”
