NEW YORK–June 03, 2013–Critical Media announced today that Nexstar Broadcasting Group has adopted the Syndicaster platform to speed the delivery of news video to web, tablet and mobile platforms, and to power new live streams for original content not airing on TV.

The Syndicaster technology will enable Nexstar stations to edit, title, tag and publish clips within 60 seconds of airtime or within 60 seconds of the video being uploaded from the field. This dramatically increases the number of news segment available to users of the news outlets’ digital properties. Edited clips can also be included in Critical Media’s ClipSyndicate platform, facilitating monetization through ad-supported and paid-for video syndication to enterprises and publishers.

Under the terms of the agreement, 61 Nexstar television stations in 41 markets, covering over 12 percent of U.S. TV households, will deploy Syndicaster. Syndicaster enables live video editing of over-the-air content, aggregation of live breaking news captured in the field, and the monetization of this content through the Syndicaster private-labeled video player and ad server for hundreds of affiliates in local markets.

“Nexstar has been an industry leader in adopting advanced technologies at its stations and across its community web portals. Their adoption of Syndicaster provides a robust, cost-effective foundation to build and profit from their digital video strategy for years to come,” said Ion Puspurica, executive vice president and general manager of the Media Services Group for Critical Media. “As a progressive station group focused on providing clients with new and enhanced marketing solutions, Nexstar required multi-platform video distribution, geo-targeting, consumer segmentation and development of multiple revenue streams. We’ve built Syndicaster to address these specific needs and are confident it will serve Nexstar as a valuable resource at the center of such forward-thinking local news initiatives.”

“An ongoing strategic priority for Nexstar is upgrading our equipment and facilities to provide the most compelling local programming in our markets. Our adoption of the Syndicaster solution reflects this commitment as it allows us to share content better and faster, whether it is to our newsrooms for viewers or our online or mobile users. The Syndicaster solution simplifies the process of delivering our live over-the-air news product to the fast-growing segment of our audience accessing Nexstar content online, or through a tablet or smartphone,” said Brian Jones, executive vice president and co-chief operating officer of Nexstar.

“Since launching our new media initiatives in 2007, Nexstar has successfully developed its local community web portals into a fast growing, high margin revenue stream that fully complements our core local broadcast activities. Our cross-platform digital strategy calls for select stations to stream original live content that does not air terrestrially,” Jones added. “With Syndicaster, we’ll provide our viewers access to local community events in real-time while creating another e-Media revenue stream.”
